Is my data backed up to the cloud?

No, BOOKDU stores all data locally on your device. Your data is included in your iPhone's iCloud backup if you have that enabled in your device settings, but BOOKDU itself does not sync to any cloud service.

How do I scan a payslip?

Tap the camera icon on the home screen, then either take a photo of your payslip or select an existing image from your photo library. BOOKDU will automatically extract the payment details using OCR. Review the extracted information and make any corrections before saving.

How are tax calculations done?

BOOKDU uses the official Australian Tax Office (ATO) 2024-25 tax brackets to estimate your tax liability. The calculations include the Medicare Levy (2%) and the tax-free threshold. Note that these are estimates only - please consult a registered tax professional for official advice.

Can I export my data?

Yes! You can export all your jobs and expenses as a CSV file. Go to Settings and tap "Export Data". This is useful for sharing records with your accountant at tax time.

What is "Money Owed"?

Money Owed shows the total value of jobs you've completed but haven't been paid for yet. Once you mark a job as "Paid", the amount moves from Money Owed to Available Money.

How do reminders work?

You can set payment reminders for jobs. BOOKDU will send you a local notification on the specified date to follow up on unpaid invoices. Notifications are processed entirely on your device.

The OCR didn't read my payslip correctly. What can I do?

OCR accuracy depends on image quality. For best results: ensure good lighting, hold the camera steady, make sure the entire payslip is visible, and avoid shadows. You can always manually edit any incorrectly extracted fields before saving.

How do I delete all my data?

Since all data is stored locally, you can delete everything by uninstalling the app. To delete individual jobs or expenses, swipe left on the item in the list view.

Is BOOKDU suitable for businesses with employees?

BOOKDU is designed for individual freelancers and sole traders to track their own income and expenses. It's not intended for managing employee payroll or business accounting. For those needs, consider dedicated accounting software.
